Terms and conditions
The following terms and conditions must be fully read and agreed to, this demonstrated by us both signing at the bottom of this page, before any driving instruction can begin. Any breach of these terms and conditions by either party may result in the ending of any agreements in place.
Conduct
I will always try to be courteous and polite, and behave professionally and ethically. My training car will be kept as clean as possible and well maintained. I will put lessons on pause if I feel it is not safe to continue, due to any reason. My car will be fitted with dual-controls, fully insured for driving tuition purposes and will not be smoked/vaped in. It is also important you act responsibly at all times, so should anything be distracting or make you feel uneasy, please do let me know. I am always grateful for feedback, good or bad, as my primary aim is to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I have an obligation to provide you with services fit for the purpose in which they were described when bought, so if you are unhappy with anything I’d be extremely grateful if you would give me the opportunity to try and resolve the matter.
Legalities
Before our first lesson can begin, there is a legal requirement for me to be able to prove I have carried out the necessary checks to confirm you have a valid driving licence. I will need you to produce the details I require to do an online licence check, as well as show me your licence in person at the start of our first lesson. I reserve the right to request these details again at any point.
I will also need to check you can read a number plate at the required distance of 20.5 metres. If you need or have been advised that you’ll need visual aids for this, then they must be used throughout your driving lessons, or lessons will be paused until this is organised.
You must follow the rules of the Highway Code at all times. I will do my best to ensure you follow the laws of the road, but you will be responsible as the driver for any traffic offences that you commit during both lessons and tests.
Safety and well-being
As previously mentioned, my training car will have dual-controls. Please be aware I may need to use these in certain situations to keep us safe, I will endeavour to discuss why I’ve needed to intervene once we’re in a safer environment. In a hazardous situation it is important you follow my instructions and must let me take control of the vehicle if instructed. When discussing afterwards why this was necessary, I will always try to ensure it does not make you feel uncomfortable, and that I remain calm and patient.
If it appears you are unable to concentrate due to illness, tiredness or your emotional state of mind, I reserve the right to terminate the lesson early or choose another learning activity which can be done in a safer environment.
You must advise me of any medications you are taking which could impact your ability to drive safely, I need to be aware as it is paramount we are all kept safe. You must take responsibility for this throughout our lessons together. If I have reasonable grounds to suspect that you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, legal or illegal, prescribed or not, and this is putting our safety at risk, I will be obliged to stop the lesson and still charge full price.
Please consider your footwear, clothing and accessories when dressing for lessons. In the interests of safety, please don’t wear footwear without a back strap or use hair claw clips on the back of the head.
Payment
It is important that both of us are punctual for lessons. I will contact you as early as possible to warn you if I am running late and I will expect the same from you. Please note I cannot be held responsible if traffic is unexpectedly busy or weather conditions cause me to arrive to our session later than planned, or not at all due to safety concerns. If I am late, I will try to make up for any lesson time lost at the end if it’s possible, or offer you a reduced price on our next lesson if a significant amount of time has been lost.
Please help us both by meeting me at the agreed location and lesson time. If I fear you have forgotten, I will aim to text you after 5 minutes and call after 10 minutes. I will only wait up to 15 minutes, at which point our lesson will be abandoned and the lesson will still be charged in full.
You are required to pay for each session/course 48 hours in advance to reserve the space or you may risk losing it. It is your responsibility to remember this but you should receive a reminder to pay, or to cancel it if necessary. However, please understand if you cancel within the 48 hour period before the lesson is due to commence, you will still be charged for the session cost.
Driving lesson prices may increase or decrease at any point, however I will give you sufficient notice and of course the option to discontinue lessons with me, if wished. Any vouchers bought from me are valid for 12 months, please ensure you begin using them in good time for their expiry date.
Theory and driving tests.
Theory and driving tests can both be booked by you. I don’t offer a booking service for either, but please do ask if you need help and I will do what I can to assist you. If you book a driving test, please notify me immediately so that I can try to keep my vehicle available for you if required.
Driving test bookings will always take priority over planned lessons, as long as I’ve been given sufficient notice. This works for everyone to make it fair so please be understanding, should I need to postpone or cancel a lesson due to this.
In the interests of everyone’s safety, I reserve the right to withhold the use of my vehicle for your driving test if, in my opinion, your driving has the potential to be dangerous. I cannot allow my vehicle to be used if I feel your driving is actually or potentially dangerous. Please note that I will give a minimum of 3 full working days notice if this is the case, as it will allow you to obtain a full refund for the test fee.
